114th Congress

Dear Friend,

Our veterans have served our country honorably and deserve the very best care and services we can offer. I am committed to serving veterans not just on Veterans Day, but every day of the year. To truly serve veterans, we must be willing to sacrifice as much for them, as they have for us.

Dear Friend,

Providing equality of opportunity for all people is a goal we all share. That is why I was thrilled with the historic vote taken recently by the United States Senate to outlaw workplace discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans.

Dear Friend,

Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda caused unimaginable destruction and devastation to the Philippines. Thousands of people perished and millions more had their lives upended by this horrific event. For many, life may never be the same. My heart goes out to all those impacted by the storm, and I am dedicated to helping these people recover from this terrible disaster.

Dear Friend,

Tonight, I voted to reopen the government and pay our nation's bills. The 16-day shutdown was a waste of time and only served to hurt the American people and the economy. It was long-past time for Speaker Boehner to allow a vote on a bipartisan bill that would reopen the government.

Dear Friend,

Unfortunately, millions of seniors are the victims of fraud each year. I invite you attend a FREE Senior Scam Stopper seminar to learn how to protect yourself against devastating financial scams.

Experts will provide tips on how you can protect yourself from fraud relating to home repair, telephone calls, finances, identify theft, auto repair and more. All are welcome to attend this free seminar.

Dear Friend,

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I hope you will join my office for an event honoring Hayward's local domestic violence center, Ruby's Place.

Dear Friend,

Yesterday, the federal government shut down for the first time in 17 years. Why? Extreme tea party conservatives have refused to keep it running unless Congress repeals the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

This is a dangerous game to play with the lives of ordinary Americans. I am outraged that tea party conservatives are willing to hold our federal government hostage and threaten our country's fragile economic recovery if they do not get their way.

What does a government shutdown mean for East Bay residents?

Dear Friend,

Dear Friend,

Our immigration system is broken. It must be reformed comprehensively to meet the needs of the 21st century. On Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 AM, I will host an immigration forum for constituents where I will provide up-to-date information and answer questions. I also will share how my office can assist constituents with any immigration needs.
