Join my office to honor Ruby's Place in Hayward
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I hope you will join my office for an event honoring Hayward’s local domestic violence center, Ruby’s Place.
Ruby’s Place, formally known as the Emergency Shelter Program, has been a lifeline for many, providing crisis counseling, legal advocacy, and resource referrals to victims of domestic violence. In April, I had the opportunity to visit Ruby’s Place and see first-hand the important work the shelter is doing to help these victims. I was also proud to vote for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) earlier this year which increases domestic violence protections for victims.

During this event we will hear remarks from Kim Hunter, Assistant District Attorney for Alameda County, who leads the county’s domestic violence division. Ruby’s Place staff will also highlight the critical services available to women and victims of domestic violence.
