WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) released the following statement after the Supreme Court in Arizona State Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission upheld the state's independent redistricting commission in a 5-4 decision. California also has an independent redistricting commission that was established by a ballot initiative in 2010.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Obergefell v. Hodges that gay and lesbian couples have a constitutional right to marry.

"Let the wedding bells ring across the land. Today's Supreme Court ruling affirms that love is love. In all 50 states, men and women can marry the person they love, share their lives together, and have it recognized under law, with the benefits that come with the institution of marriage.
