This week, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) will introduce his plan to allow members of Congress to attend hearings by video and vote on noncontroversial bills remotely from their districts — a proposal he has pushed since the early days of his campaign.

HAYWARD -- Congressman Eric Swalwell will hold an open house at his new Hayward office Saturday.

The grand opening will begin at 10 a.m. at 1260 B St., Suite 150. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

Swalwell, who will be at the opening, was elected to represent the 15th Congressional District in November. He also has a district office in Pleasanton.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) last night put his heart and reputation on the line to play for the Democrats in the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, which dates back to 1909. Democrats shutout the Republicans with a victory of 22-0, the team's fifth consecutive win. Swalwell contributed to his team with a single, three stolen bases and three runs scored, with only one resulting sore hip.

WASHINGTON, DC –U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) applauded passage today of his amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2014. The amendment fixes a bureaucratic issue that was prohibiting military bands from playing at community events like the Scottish Games in Pleasanton if the organization funds the band's expenses.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) announced that the Bay Area organization Save The Bay was awarded a $75,000 federal grant to help reach the goal of restoring 25 acres of wetlands in the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve in Hayward. The grant was provided through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Migratory Bird Conservation Commission.

An amendment that guarantees funding to protect mass transit systems like BART from terrorist attacks passed the House of Representatives Wednesday.

The amendment to the Department of Homeland Security Funding Bill, introduced by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Pleasanton), ensures that $97.5 million of the department's budget will be allocated to mass transit security programs.

"BART's broad security needs remain in the range of $200 million, so assuring a greater amount for transit security funding can assist in our efforts to be vigilant," BART Police Chief Kenton W. Rainey said.
