WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) praised the announcement by Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz that Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA, which he represents, will partner with IBM to develop a new supercomputer that will be seven times faster than LLNL's current model.

Rep. Eric Swalwell was elected by his House Democratic peers Friday to serve as regional whip for Northern California, Hawaii and the Pacific islands.

Each region's members elect a regional whip to work with Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, of Maryland, in keeping Democratic members informed and in line on important votes. Swalwell, D-Dublin, in his first term, had been appointed an assistant whip to do a similar job among Democratic freshmen.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today was elected by his colleagues to serve as Regional Whip in the upcoming 114th Congress for Region II, which is comprised of Northern California, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.

The Regional Whip team works with Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer to build unity among House Democrats. Regional Whips are responsible for informing their regional colleagues about upcoming legislation and mobilizing votes. Swalwell served as Democratic Assistant Whip in the 113th Congress.

The Dublin Post Office was named Tuesday for the late James Kohnen, well-known public figure in Dublin and 30-year Army veteran who died May 29, 2012.

The action came after Dublin Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-15th) gained unprecedented bipartisan support of legislation authoring the name change of the post office facility, which is under the jurisdiction of the Pleasanton post office and is located at 6937 Village Parkway in Dublin.

DUBLIN, CA – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today hosted the inaugural meeting of his Veterans Advisory Commission. He was joined at the meeting by Julianna Boor, the newly appointed Director of the Oakland VA Regional Benefit Office. The Advisory Commission discussed the appeals process for benefits, ending the benefits backlog, and vocational programs offered by Oakland VA.

DALLAS, TX – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today participated in a House Homeland Security Committee field hearing on Ebola at the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) airport. Swalwell discussed with health officials how the federal government is working to control the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and prevent a serious outbreak in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security will be implementing enhanced security procedures at the five international airports in the U.S. that account for over 90% of travel to the U.S. from areas affected by Ebola.
