WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement after the release of the White House proposed Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL):
Washington, DC - U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today was selected to serve as the senior Democrat on the Committee on Intelligence's Subcommittee on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This newly established subcommittee is responsible for the oversight, policy, activities, and budget of the CIA.
They called it the "do-nothing Congress," but as a member of the 113th session of the House of Representatives, Democratic freshman Rep. Eric Swalwell says it was possible to get plenty done — with "small steps" and cooperation from the other side.

He was later ceremonially sworn into office in front of family, friends, and East Bay constituents in the Rayburn Gold Room by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who administered the oath of office.
