WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) applauded the introduction in the House of the Assault Weapons Ban, of which he is an original cosponsor, to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices. Swalwell agreed to cosponsor the bill in December and has been working since then at the request of its House sponsor, Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), to encourage fellow new Members of Congress to lend their support as well.

This bike riding event will give constituents a chance to talk with Swalwell about the critical issues facing the East Bay and the nation while having a fun bike ride through the beautiful Tri-Valley.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) cosponsored H.R. 11, the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act, introduced yesterday by Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI). This bill is essentially the same as the reauthorization that passed the Senate last Congress on a bipartisan basis, but was not considered by the House.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was chosen as the Ranking Member on the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology's Subcommittee on Energy by Committee Democrats. The Ranking Member serves as the lead minority party member on a committee, and Swalwell will be one of the few first-term Members in either party to be a Ranking Member on any committee in Congress.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) joined the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus. This caucus works to protect women's reproductive health rights and reduce the number of unintended pregnancies.

"I am a strong supporter of women's rights and the ability of women to make their own healthcare decisions, and I am proud to join the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus," said Swalwell. "During my public service, I have always worked to protect women's access to full healthcare and family planning, and I will continue to do so as a Member of Congress."

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) announced his support for President Obama's gun safety plan to protect our communities and called for immediate action to reduce gun violence."President Obama said, ‘Now is the Time' for gun safety, and I could not agree more," said Swalwell.  "The President has put together a bold plan to reduce gun violence and Congress needs to enact the legislation called for, like the ban on assault weapons, without delay.  We cannot just sit on the sidelines and wait for another tragedy to happen.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee recommended to the full House Democratic Caucus that Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) be added to the House Committee on Homeland Security for the 113th Congress. He already serves on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
