WASHINGTON, DC -- Yesterday, a television news agency reported Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-15) received pay during the federal government shutdown, despite pledging to not be paid. This is not what occurred.

On September, 30, 2013, Swalwell sent a letter to the House of Representative's Chief Administrative Officer asking to have any salary earned during the government shutdown withheld until federal workers who also had to work without pay, received their pay. The government shutdown began on October 1, 2013.
