OAKLAND – Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Pleasanton) and Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley hosted Patrick Grady, Member of the British Parliament, on Saturday at the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse to discuss gun violence issues.

The event, highlighting the nations’ differing attitudes on gun ownership and violence, featured a display of dozens of firearms used in violent crimes in Alameda County.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fifty House Democrats led by Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) asked Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday to create a more transparent U.S. Congress by revising the policy that prohibits Members from using cameras on the House Floor.

The letter to Ryan also asks that C-SPAN be allowed to control its own camera feed, rather than having the cameras remain subject to House control.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) on Wednesday joined dozens of his fellow House Democrats for a sit-in on the House floor to demand that Speaker Ryan and House Republican leadership allow a vote on bipartisan legislation to address gun violence.

The sit-in – led by civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (GA-5) – came amid continued Republican obstructionism following last week’s act of hate and terror in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) on Wednesday introduced the Fairness in Forgiveness Act, which would let current and former long-time workers at all 16 privately operated Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories seek forgiveness of their federal student loans.
The bill would make all of the labs’ staff members eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLFP), which provides for forgiveness of federal student loans for those who work at least 10 years in public service.
