From Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15), Ranking Member of the CIA Subcommittee of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:
"The Washington Post's revelation that the CIA has concluded Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, is deeply troubling and warrants further inquiry. PLEASANTON, CA – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) convened a discussion on juvenile justice and how to break the cycle of poverty and crime Wednesday at the Alameda County Juvenile Court and detention facility in San Leandro.
“Crime doesn’t exist in a vacuum,” said Swalwell, a former Alameda County deputy district attorney. “To keep our communities safe, we must get to the root of what’s happening. That means taking a closer look at what leads young offenders to break the law, and most importantly, what puts them on a path to a law-abiding, successful life.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today led 66 House members in urging strong funding to help America’s mass transit agencies keep their riders safe and secure.
In a letter to the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, the members urged that the Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP) receive $105 million in fiscal year 2017 – a small increase from the current budget, and $20 million more than President Obama’s request. It also asks that this be kept as a distinctly funded program, not combined with other security preparedness grants.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said the following about today’s terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium:
“I stand with the people of Belgium and mourn the loss of life,” Swalwell said. “Today’s attacks, on a 183-year ally and the host country to NATO, must not paralyze us with fear or go unanswered.
