WASHINGTON, DC –U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) applauded passage today of his amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2014. The amendment fixes a bureaucratic issue that was prohibiting military bands from playing at community events like the Scottish Games in Pleasanton if the organization funds the band's expenses.

Special Forces Sgt. 1st Class James Grissom, of Hayward, was honored on the U.S. House floor Tuesday by Congressman Eric Swalwell.

Grissom, a 1999 graduate of Mount Eden High School in Hayward, died March 21 of wounds suffered from small-arms fire in Afghanistan.

The Green Beret received several medals, including the Bronze Star and the NATO Medal, Swalwell said.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives today to recognize and honor Marine Sergeant Zachary George, a native of San Ramon, who was wounded in Afghanistan on February 4.
