WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) today reintroduced the bipartisan Homicide Victims' Families Rights Act, to give more rights to the families of homicide victims in federal cases.

Swalwell and McCaul are both former prosecutors: Swalwell, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, was an Alameda County (Calif.) deputy district attorney, while McCaul was a federal prosecutor and a Texas deputy attorney general.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) led 105 members in sending a letter to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy demanding he meet with Metropolitan Police Department Office Michael Fanone. Officer Fanone bravely defended the United States Capitol on January 6 and suffered severe injuries. The letter was sent to McCarthy during National Police Week, a time to celebrate the heroism of our law enforcement officers and commemorate those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Today, Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) announced he would bring Michelle Gutierrez-Vo, RN, a local CA-15 nurse, as his virtual guest to President Biden's joint address to Congress on Wednesday. Gutierrez-Vo lives in Union City with her family and works in the adult medicine clinic at Kaiser Permanente in Fremont.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Eric Swalwell (CA-15), Mike Quigley (IL-05), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), and Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) reintroduced gun safety legislation that will help states enforce existing laws against individuals who attempt to purchase firearms but have no legal right to do so.

WASHINGTON DC - Today, Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) re-introduced the No Guns for Abusers Act to protect victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence remains a persistent threat to many Americans––particularly women––and firearm ownership can often escalate abuse and turn deadly. The risk of intimate partner homicide is five times greater if an abuser has access to a firearm.

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) reintroduced four bills Tuesday to ensure that future Presidents of the United States cannot perpetrate some of the same corrupt acts that President Donald Trump committed.

The bills would require candidates, campaigns, and companies to report foreign interference in U.S. elections; enhance protections for whistleblowers who come forward to expose official wrongdoing; and make it a criminal offense for the President, Vice President, or their families to enrich themselves from foreign sources.

WASHINGTON — East Bay Rep. Eric Swalwell has become a household name known for his criticism of Donald Trump on cable television, via Twitter and during the former president's two impeachments. But after the second trial's end, he says he's ready to reach across the aisle.

"It's a new chapter personally for me, and I think the end of an accountability chapter for Donald Trump and Congress," Swalwell said in an interview.
