Last week we celebrated an extraordinary moment of bipartisanship that will improve the health of children, working families, and seniors. On March 26, 2015 the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015, by a vote of 392 – 37. Representatives from all over the country worked across the aisle to ensure that seniors have enough doctors who accept Medicare and that doctors are reimbursed based on standards of quality and performance.
Not only is this bill good for seniors, it also benefits our children. This act extends the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), providing health coverage to cover eight million children for another two years. Finally, this legislation expands funding for our community health centers, which provide care to the underserved.
