Swalwell Statement on the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Rule for Cyber Incident Reporting

March 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA), released the following statement:

"I appreciate the extensive work CISA has put into developing this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) over the last two years. Proper implementation of the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA) will make our nation more secure from the type of cyber incidents we have seen from nation-state actors and cyber criminals in recent years, and ongoing engagement with critical infrastructure stakeholders will be essential to ensuring this new mandate is successful. While issuing this NPRM is an important step in CIRCIA implementation, there remains necessary work to finalize the rule and improve regulatory harmonization across the Federal government. As Ranking Member of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee, I will carefully review this detailed proposed rule and look forward to engaging with the private sector to ensure the Final Rule can be successfully implemented."
