SWALWELL LEGISLATIVE WIN IN FAA REAUTHORIZATION

May 16, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. This week, U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) voted for the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2024 (H.R. 3935), which included his landmark legislation, the Airport Infrastructure Vehicle Security Act (AIVSA). AIVSA will require that all airport vehicles and infrastructure be manufactured in the United States, with American made parts, by American workers.

“We must ensure that U.S. tax dollars are being invested in American businesses, technology, and workers,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell. “AIVSA will close existing loopholes in law which currently allow purchases of Chinese-manufactured products within the FAA. This law permitted China specialized access and leverage over global supply chains, technology flows, and ultimately data at our nation’s airports, which presented a risk to U.S. national security. AIVSA will ensure that Chinese companies do not undercut American competitors. I’m pleased to see my initiative included in final passage of the FAA Reauthorization.”

Congressman Swalwell was proud to support the passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, legislation that authorizes federal funding in our transportation sector for another five years to bolster flight programs, improve the safety of aircraft maintenance and operations, and safeguard the aviation workforce. This legislation passed both chambers of Congress and is on its way to be signed into law by President Biden.
