Swalwell Kicks Off National Small Business Week in Hayward (PHOTOS)
HAYWARD, CA – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today kicked off National Small Business Week by visiting five small businesses in downtown Hayward. This year marks the 51st anniversary of National Small Business Week, which recognizes the contributions of small businesses across the country.
During his tour, Swalwell visited The Book Shop, The Cupcake Shoppe (awarded the best cupcake in the Bay Area), Cyclepath Hayward, The Cobblers, and Caspers Hot Dogs.
"Small businesses are the leading force behind our national economy, creating nearly 7 out of every 10 new jobs in the U.S" said Swalwell. "The five Hayward small businesses I had the opportunity to visit today are vital to the success of our East Bay economy. It is my top priority in Congress to support local economic development, which is why the first bill I introduced, the bipartisan Main Street Revival Act, aims to empower entrepreneurs in cities like Hayward by relieving them of some startup costs."
There are approximately 28,000,000 small businesses in the United States.
