SWALWELL FUNDS $14 MILLION IN LOCAL PROJECTS WITH PASSAGE OF GOVERNMENT FUNDING BILL

March 11, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Last week, U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-14) announced that more than $14 million dollars will be invested in the East Bay to fund local projects around California’s 14th Congressional District. Rep. Swalwell voted to finalize Community Project Funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 government funding package, which passed the House of Representatives and Senate last week.

"As House Democrats continue to put people over politics, I am thrilled to see this funding for community projects headed to constituents in my district and across the country,” said Rep. Swalwell. "Whether it's supporting mental health services in Dublin, removing harmful toxins in Alameda County, or modernizing cybersecurity defenses for the BART, funding for these projects will help meet the needs of Californians. These project requests came directly from local governments and nonprofits in my district, and I look forward to seeing their impact in the months and years to come."

Rep. Swalwell championed funding for 14 projects that will directly benefit California’s 14th District residents.

  • $3,000,000 for the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority’s Hydrogen Fueling Station Expansion Project
  • $1,930,000 for the City of Hayward’s St. Regis Multi-Service Campus Project
  • $1,186,279 for Tri-Valley Haven’s Domestic Violence Shelter Rebuild Project
  • $1,000,000 for Union City’s Smith Street Pedestrian At-Grade Railroad Crossing Safety Improvement Project
  • $963,000 for the City of Fremont Police Department’s Community and Vehicle Camera Replacement Project
  • $959,752 for Alameda County Zone 7 Water Agency’s Chain of Lake PFAS Treatment Facility Project
  • $959,752 for Alameda County’s South Livermore Sewer Expansion Project

  • $850,000 for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit’s (BART) Cyber Security Modernization Project
  • $850,000 for Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District’s Zero Emission Bus University Project
  • $500,000 for the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District’s Marylin Avenue STEAM Campus Entry Point- Rehabilitation Project
  • $500,000 for the City of Fremont’s Multi-Service Community Center at Central Park
  • $445,000 for the Alameda County Food Bank Electrifying Food Distribution Project
  • $200,000 for the City of Dublin’s Police Service Behavioral Health Program

The House of Representatives is expected to vote later this month on an additional funding package, which would include an additional project Rep. Swalwell submitted to benefit California’s 14th Congressional District. The project is listed below:

  • $1,380,000 for the East Bay Regional Park District’s Wildfire Mitigation, and Safe Resilient Forests Project

Democrats were successful in removing extreme MAGA Republican policies from these bills that attempted to enact an abortion ban, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will include $58.2 billion to create tens of thousands of jobs to deploy clean energy technologies and $103 billion to support infrastructure investments and rebuild our housing systems across the country.
