Swalwell Chosen as a Democratic Assistant Whip

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has been chosen by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) as a Democratic Assistant Whip. "I'm pleased to announce that Rep. Eric Swalwell has been appointed to serve as Assistant Whip in the 113th Congress," said Democratic Whip Hoyer. "Rep. Swalwell, as a new Member of Congress, will bring a fresh perspective to the Whip team. I look forward to working with him to advance the priorities of the American people, including efforts to promote job creation and strengthen the middle class."

"I thank Whip Hoyer for entrusting me with the honor of serving as an Assistant Whip for the 113th Congress." said Swalwell. "I look forward to working with the House Democratic Leadership and all of my colleagues to advance common sense solutions to our nation's problems. The Assistant Whip team is composed of leaders in the Democratic Caucus who work with the Democratic Whip to build unity among House Democrats.

Assistant Whips are responsible for informing their fellow Democratic members about upcoming legislation that will be considered in the House.
