Swalwell Announces Congressional App Challenge Winners
CASTRO VALLEY, CA— Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) today named the winners of the Congressional App Challenge for California's 15th Congressional District:
1st Place: ChatGuard, created by Joel Johnson, Aryaman Kukal, Chaitya Jodhavat, and Sriram Natarajan, all of whom are 10th graders attending American High School in Fremont.
2nd Place: Vision, created by Meryl Mathew, an 11th grader at American High School in Fremont.
3rd Place: HealthBuddy, created by Aryan Agrawal, a 9th grader at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon.
"I'm always awed by the quality of our young coders' work in the Congressional App Challenge, and this year is no different," Swalwell said. "Protecting against online harassment, a fitness tracker for smartphone users' eyes, and helping cancer patients record their own medical data – these are the kinds of apps that improve our community's quality of life, truly coding that cares. Congratulations to our winners!"
The Congressional App Challenge awards prizes to students who demonstrate exceptional computer science skills and apply those skills to supporting their community. Students all across the nation participate in the challenge by submitting their original apps for a chance to be recognized nationally as a winner.
