Swalwell and Special Guests to Host Telephone Town Hall on COVID-19
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) announced he will host a telephone town hall for 15th Congressional District residents on Thursday, March 19th with special guests Dr. Arthur Reingold and Dr. Michael Anderson to discuss the COVID-19 outbreak.
“As new cases of the coronavirus appear in the Bay Area and across the nation, it is more important than ever to stay informed,” said Swalwell. “I am thrilled to be joined by two esteemed professors of public health to provide my constituents with the most up-to-date information on prevention and preparedness during these uncertain times.”
The telephone town hall will take place at 6:30 P.M. PT on Thursday, March 19th.

Professor Arthur L. Reingold, MD, is Division Head of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health. Professor Reingold has worked for over forty years on the prevention and control of infectious diseases both at the national level, including eight years at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as with numerous developing countries around the world. He has directed or co-directed the CDC-funded California Emerging Infections Program since its inception in 1994. He has dedicated his research to the prevention and control of infectious diseases at the national level, as well as with developing countries around the world.
Dr. Michael R. Anderson is President of University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Benioff Children's Hospitals and Senior Vice President, Children's Services for UCSF. Dr. Anderson is a nationally renowned authority on children’s health policy, pediatric disaster preparedness, system quality and physician workforce. As President George W. Bush’s appointee, he served as Vice Chair of the National Commission on Children and Disasters. He has testified before the U.S. Senate and the President’s Commission on Bioethics. He has chaired an Institute of Medicine Committee on Pediatric Disaster Response and Recovery and is a consultant to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) National Disaster Medical System. In 2014, Dr. Anderson was appointed by the Obama Administration to chair the National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters at HHS. He has served on three national committees for the American Academy of Pediatrics and chaired its Committee on Pediatric Workforce.
The town hall is free and call-ins are open to all residents of California's 15th Congressional District, which includes San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Sunol, Hayward, Union City, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Cherryland, Ashland and Fairview as well as parts of Fremont and Danville.
