Rep. Swalwell Launches Dynamic, Interactive Website
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today launched a dynamic new website: swalwell.house.gov. The interactive site allows constituents to better access important government resources, contact Rep. Swalwell's offices, and even track Rep. Swalwell's activities around the district through "Track your Rep", a map that features his foursquare check-ins – a first for the House of Representatives.
"The East Bay is one of the most technologically-advanced areas in the nation, and I'm proud to offer my constituents a website that is worthy of the district," said Rep. Swalwell. "My new website will enhance my constituent outreach, by providing easily-accessible information about how my office can be of assistance, my voting record and policy positions, and the many ways to contact me from phone to email to Twitter. My website also celebrates all the 15thhas to offer, by spotlighting the unique towns that make up our district."
The revamped website features:
- A section where constituents can learn how Rep. Swalwell's office can help them, from arranging tours in Washington, DC to ordering commemorative flags that have been flown over the U.S. Capitol Building to helping constituents with a Federal Agency.
- An enhanced "newsroom" where visitors can read about Rep. Swalwell's latest activities, policy statements and press releases, access a press kit and view recent photos and videos of floor speeches and committee hearings.
- Easy access to all of Rep. Swalwell's social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Rep. Swalwell's foursquare check-ins are displayed on a map of the district so constituents can track Rep. Swalwell as he participates in district events.
- An interactive map marked with points-of-interests around the district, including schools, BART stations and hospitals. A section where visitors can learn about Rep. Swalwell's biography, committee leadership and the legislation he is fighting for.
- An expanded section dedicated to Rep. Swalwell's positions on policy priorities – from creating jobs to health care to science and technology.
During his first six months in Congress Rep. Swalwell has been actively using different technologies to communicate with constituents. He was the first Member of Congress to Skype into a City Council meeting, and the first to "vine" his vote on the House floor. In addition, he regularly integrates Prezi and PowerPoint presentations into district events and writes all of his own tweets and Facebook posts. He also introduced the "Mobile Congress" resolution to upgrade House rules to the 21st century. "I look forward to taking advantage of this cutting-edge website and continuing to use social media to connect with my constituents in the 15th district," added Rep. Swalwell.
