Improving Bay Area Commuting

Dear Friend,

As the Bay Area continues to grow, we must do all that what we can to minimize traffic congestion to help improve people's lives and the environment's health. I was pleased to learn of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's (MTC) decision, announced last month, to provide funds toward advancing the goal of an extension of Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to Livermore.

The BART to Livermore project is one I have long supported in order to improve the entire region by better connecting our public transportation networks. This will remove cars from the roads and allow everyone to spend more time with their families instead of commuting.

The new funding will be used to help environmental work for the BART extension to Livermore and to find solutions to issues presented by connecting BART to the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE). The money will come from local bridge tolls, as voted on by the MTC.

I look forward to continuing to work to achieve an extension of BART to Livermore/ACE, and it is an honor to serve you as a Member of Congress fighting for projects like this of importance to the East Bay. Visit my website or contact my East Bay offices at 510-370-3322 or 925-460-5100 if we can be of service in any way.
