San Lorenzo is an unincorporated community and is governed directly by Alameda County.

Visitors to San Lorenzo shouldn't miss:

  • San Lorenzo Community Park, a 31-acre flat park with playing fields, a dog park and picnic areas.
  • The San Lorenzo Library, the original branch of the Alameda County Library, established in 1910.

San Lorenzo Fun Facts:

  • San Lorenzo was one of the nation's first planned communities, with parcels designated for schools, churches, parks, and several retail centers.
  • Early residents during the California Gold Rush era lived in San Lorenzo as squatters on the Rancho San Lorenzo, and the informal name given to the area was Squattersville.
