WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has re-appointed Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) to the House Committee on Homeland Security, on which he served in the 113th Congress.

Swalwell intends to continue serving on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he has chaired the Intelligence Modernization and Readiness Subcommittee, as well as on the House Judiciary Committee. He also co-chairs the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.

"Democracy is under assault. Yesterday, the President and Republican seditionists in Congress incited a violent coup attempt on the U.S. Capitol. Because of brave law enforcement and military officers, the effort to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election failed. But this terrorist attack has put our experiment in self-governance on life support.

WASHINGTON, DC –– Yesterday, several legislative provisions authored by Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) were included in the H.R. 133, the Omnibus Appropriations and Emergency Coronavirus Relief bill. The bill increases non-defense spending by $12.5 billion above the budget caps, allowing for strong investments in American families and communities, and includes several critical Democratic priorities for COVID-19.

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) on Wednesday introduced the bipartisan Homicide Victims' Families Rights Act of 2020, to give more rights to the families of homicide victims in federal cases.

Swalwell and McCaul both are former prosecutors: Swalwell – a member of the House Committee on the Judiciary – was an Alameda County (Calif.) deputy district attorney, while McCaul was a federal prosecutor and a Texas deputy attorney general.

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) on Thursday held the inaugural event of their new bipartisan Congressional Critical Materials Caucus, with three experts discussing how America can assure a long-term, secure, and sustainable supply of energy critical materials (ECMs).

The event coincided with a floor vote on legislation to help achieve these goals, which Rep. Swalwell has carried in every Congress since 2013. The legislation passed on a 220-185 vote, and now goes to the Senate.
