Swalwell named Vice Chair of House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today was appointed by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve as Vice Chair of the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee. The Steering & Policy Committee sets the Democratic policy agenda and nominates Democratic Members for committee assignments; Pelosi named Swalwell to the committee in November 2014.
“I’m honored by the trust that Leader Pelosi has placed in me with this elevation to Vice Chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee,” Swalwell said. “It won’t be hard to demonstrate that House Democrats’ message – especially on issues such as student loan debt, college affordability and millennial entrepreneurship – should resonate with all Americans.”
“Eric’s strategic insight in articulating our vision to the American people, informed by his work with young Americans through the Future Forum, is a tremendous asset to this Committee,” Leader Pelosi said. “In his new role as vice chair, Eric’s voice and vision will help shape how we communicate our agenda with the American people.”
“The Steering Committee embodies the energy, drive, diversity, and strategic vision of all House Democrats. Under the dynamic leadership of our co-chairs, Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro and Donna Edwards, the Steering and Policy Committee ensures House Democrats stand united for opportunity for all hard-working American families,” Leader Pelosi added.
