Public Safety Power Shutoff Resources

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has turned off power in certain areas due to severe winds and dry conditions. You may lose power during this time. I understand these shutoffs can be frustrating, confusing and a major inconvenience for many families in CA-15. These shutoffs also present safety risks and can be dangerous for those who rely on electric or battery dependent medications, devices or equipment. Below you can find information and other resources to help assist you during these outages. My district office is ready and available to help you with any outage-related concerns and can be reached at (510) 370-3322.

Emergencies can be much less stressful when you know you are prepared. For valuable information about preparing for fires, natural disasters, and power outages please visit www.ready.gov.

Information for "medical baseline" residents:

If you or someone you know relies on electric or battery dependent medications, devices, or equipment, power outages can be extremely challenging. Here are some recommendations on how to best prepare for an outage:

*PG&E has a Medical Baseline Program that notifies them of your need and will ensure that you receive additional warnings of planned outages so that you have as much time to prepare as possible. More information on that program can be found here: https://bit.ly/2pbL0pC

*If you are able to acquire a backup power source for your equipment, make sure that you follow the manufacturer's instructions and operate it safely.

*Identify another safe place for you to stay temporarily in the event that you need to leave your home.

Monitoring your Water Service

Did you know that a power outage can have an impact on your water service, too?

For constituents who receive their water service through East Bay Municipal Untility District, you can access more information about your water service during these events here: https://www.ebmud.com/customers/alerts/power-shutoff-impacts-water-operations/
